Sometimes you can produce a stunning book cover using free services, but you need to realise that a lot of other people are using these sites too.
This means that you will never be able to create a truly unique book cover. Sure, the text will be different at the top and bottom, but there is usually little or no facility to manipulate the images.
These services are free because they use stock photos, which are usually available for free on many other sites.
But if you are new to self-publishing and you are not sure if you will make enough money to recoup the cost of a professional cover, it might be worth trying a free ebook cover at first.
